How we handle your personal information
The short version: we collect your contact details and what you tell us about your home plans so we can get back to you and help with home and land options. We share them with Dreamstart Homes and the SSB Pty Ltd group, and with our service providers. With your consent we may also share them with a licensed mortgage broker or lender. We don't sell your information. You can ask to see or correct it, or ask us to stop contacting you, at any time.
1. Who we are
FirstVest ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Richard Marsh, a sales consultant with Dreamstart Homes, part of the SSB Pty Ltd group of companies [ABN]. Our address is [BUSINESS ADDRESS]. You can contact us at hello@firstvest.com.au.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. What we collect
- Contact details: your name, mobile number and email address.
- Enquiry details: what best describes you (for example first home buyer or investor), and anything you tell us in your message or in conversation, such as your deposit, budget, preferred suburbs, timeline and the packages you're interested in.
- Price range and preferences: if you choose to tell us a price range, preferred areas or the type of home you want, we use it only to show you suitable packages. We don't ask for, and please don't send us, detailed financial information such as income, debts or borrowing position; your licensed broker or lender collects what they need.
- Your consent and contact preferences.
- Website data: technical information such as your browser, device, pages visited and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and similar tools (see section 8).
We collect most information directly from you, through our website form, phone, email or in person. If you don't give us your contact details, we can't respond to your enquiry. You can contact us without giving your name for general questions, but we'll need contact details to follow up.
3. Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange a chat about homes, land and packages.
- To help you with land, design, house and land packages and the building process with Dreamstart Homes or another SSB group company.
- To give your details to a licensed mortgage broker or lender, only if you ask us to.
- To send you information about home and land options, where you've agreed (see section 5).
- To keep records, improve our website and services, and meet our legal obligations.
4. Who we share it with
- Dreamstart Homes and SSB Pty Ltd group companies, so they can prepare quotes, designs and contracts and manage your build.
- Finance brokers and lenders, only with your consent. FirstVest is not a mortgage broker or credit provider. If you ask us to, we'll pass your details to a licensed broker or lender so they can contact you. [REFERRAL FEE: state whether FirstVest / Dreamstart receives any fee for referrals.]
- Our service providers, such as HubSpot (customer relationship management), Netlify (website hosting and form handling), email and phone providers, and our IT and professional advisers. They may only use your information to provide services to us.
- Others where required or allowed by law, for example a government agency or regulator.
Overseas storage. Some of our service providers, including HubSpot and Netlify, may store or process information outside Australia, for example in the United States, the European Union or other countries where they or their data centres operate. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information in a way that's consistent with the APPs.
We don't sell your personal information.
5. Marketing and opting out
If you've agreed, we may contact you by phone, SMS or email about home and land options, new packages and events. Every marketing email or SMS will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can also opt out any time by emailing hello@firstvest.com.au or telling us when we call. We'll action your request promptly. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Do Not Call Register rules.
6. Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including using reputable providers with access controls and encrypted connections. When we no longer need your information and aren't required to keep it, we'll take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
7. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@firstvest.com.au. We'll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. There's no charge to make a request. If we can't give you access or make a correction, we'll tell you why in writing.
8. Cookies and analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to work properly and to help us understand how visitors use it. This may include tools such as Google Analytics and the HubSpot tracking code, which can link your visits to an enquiry you submit. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, although some features may not. [Update this section to match the tools actually installed on the site.]
9. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first at hello@firstvest.com.au and we'll aim to respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): www.oaic.gov.au, phone 1300 363 992.
